Programs for Students attending Tel Aviv University
We organize a wide range of programming for students studying abroad at Tel Aviv University, including guest speakers, lunch-and-learns, weekend trips, and Shabbat dinners with local families. We work to incorporate the true Israel experience with each student’s study abroad experience, exposing students to Israeli culture and Jewish life in Israel while helping them foster lifelong friendships with one another.
*The Jeff Seidel’s Student Centers are in no way affiliated with Tel Aviv University and are not empowered to act and/or represent itself as acting on behalf of Tel Aviv University in any matter whatsoever.

Meet Rabbi Yoni Denitz, the new Director at Jeff Siedel’s Student Center Tel Aviv!
Rabbi Yoni, a third generation Los Angeles native, has been living in Israel for the past 12 years. Upon graduating from the University of Michigan in 2010, Rabbi Yoni spent the summer working under Councilman Tom Labonge of the 4th District of Los Angeles (Hollywood) where he rubbed shoulders with Ben Stiller, Kanye West, Jamie Fox, and Britney Spears among others.
Rabbi Yoni then spent the year working for Northwestern Mutual where he focused on Wealth Management and International Investment Strategy for Northwestern’s most accomplished financial advisor across the US.
Then, unable to ignore the call to Israel, Rabbi Yoni decided to return to Israel to study in Yeshiva. He spent the next 8 years in various Yeshivot such as Machon Shlomo, Nesivos Ahron, the Mir Yeshiva, and rabbinical school at the Jerusalem Kollel, where he focused on Jewish Outreach and Education.
Rabbi Yoni currently serves as a teacher and Rabbi in several institutions across Israel. Married to Ariella (Hill) Denitz from Los Angeles, Rabbi Yoni and Ariella have three beautiful children and have been living in Jerusalem for the past 9 years. When not teaching or studying, Rabbi Yoni can be found on the tennis court, in the pool, or brewing his own beer!
Whether you’d like to experience an amazing class, join us up north for Shabbat, or have fun on one of our ATV trips, Boat Cruises, or Open Bar Nights, come drop by the JSC TLV to say hi!
Ariella is married to the incomparable Rabbi Yoni and loves being mom to three amazing kids. She also loves TAU, which is why she’s back on campus after a COVID-caused break back in 2020.
Ariella is originally from Los Angeles and has loved Israel since her first trip here at age 16. Her Holocaust-survivor grandparents always loved the Land of Israel, and Ariella made Israel her home first in 2008 as a study-abroad student at Michlalah Jerusalem, and then again (for good this time!) in 2013 along with Rabbi Yoni. They’ve lived in Jerusalem ever since, and feel very blessed to be raising their children in Israel.
Ariella worked in commercial and residential asset management in Los Angeles for ten years and then left the industry to focus on her family. She worked at Hebrew University and then Tel Aviv University as a director for Thrive, a job which unfortunately ended with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. She’s thrilled to be back at TAU in 2022!
Ariella invites one and all to join her in her hobbies, from baking to basketball, reading to redecorating…

George Deek is an Arab-Israeli diplomat. In 2018, Deek was appointed Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan. He is the first Israeli Arab Christian to become an ambassador. Deek grew up in an Eastern Orthodox Christian family in the Ajami neighborhood of Jaffa, in a building where the other tenants included Muslims, Catholics, Jews and a Catholic priest of Jewish ancestry.[2][3] His father, who worked as a tax advisor,[3] was one of the leaders of the Christian community in Jaffa who served as chairman of the Orthodox Association, and was considered a well-known and popular figure in the city until in 2015 a square was inaugurated in his memory in Jaffa in the presence of Mayor Ron Huldai.[4] According to Deek, his grandparents fled to Lebanon for safety when the 1947–1949 Palestine war, having been told that the Jews would slaughter them if they remained in their homes, but expecting to return home once Arab armies defeated the Jews.[3] According to Deek, when the war ended, his grandparents felt that they had been “deceived”, and decided to return illegally to their home in Jaffa rather than remaining in Lebanon as refugees. Since reentering the country was illegal, Deek’s grandfather, an electrician, was arrested and jailed.
